We are excited to share historic news that will deeply impact families seeking Alzheimer’s assisted living care in the Rio Grande Valley. On November 4, 2025, Texas voters overwhelmingly passed Proposition 14, officially creating the Dementia Prevention and Research Institute of Texas and authorizing a groundbreaking $3 billion fund dedicated to advancing the causes, prevention, and treatment of dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s, and related brain disorders.
This state-funded initiative marks the first time any state in the nation has invested at this scale in brain research. Up to $300 million annually will support research grants, enhance care standards, and drive innovation across Texas communities—including here in McAllen, Edinburg, and the greater Rio Grande Valley. The fund will also help create new facilities and attract world-class researchers and experts to the Lone Star State.
At The Bridges at Mission and The Bridges at Edinburg Assisted Living, our commitment to providing the best Alzheimer’s and memory care in the Rio Grande Valley is unwavering. This new era of investment means:
Nearly half a million Texans are living with Alzheimer’s disease, and families need hope and support now more than ever. With the approval of this fund, Texas is positioning itself as a leader not only in research but also in delivery of compassionate, world-class memory care.
